Hello again, readers! I would like to, again, give a HUGE thank-you for supporting my blog in its second revamp. This next group of women that I would like to continue to showcase are the stay at home moms who are starting a side hustle, they are the full-time working women that want to stop “climbing the corporate ladder” and follow their artistic dreams. They are the women selling make-up for some extra pocket change, or they are the single moms busting their behinds creating merchandise just to keep food on the table for their kids.
These empowering, inspirational women have taken the reins, and they are their own boss! Empowered Women Empower Women. I would like to continue to use my platform to inform you about some of these amazing women, the work they do, and the products they sell. So excited to give you my first post under this section after my comeback--Here is my newest installment of - “She’s the BOSS!”
Company / Business - Kacy Midkiff Music
What does your business sell or provide?
Live vocals, piano and guitar for special events / -Music lessons for voice, piano and guitar.
How/why did you start your business?
I have been teaching music lessons privately for 13 years and I was a music teacher for 8 of those years. I stepped away from full time teaching, but still had a big desire to perform music. I have taken two years to get my musical skills back in performance shape so that I am ready to perform!
What did you do before starting your business?
I have been a teacher for 13 years and this is my side business. I think all that time helped to prepare me for performing because you also need to connect with your audience as you would a class.
What tips do you have for other women who would like to start their own businesses?
I read recently that 80% of success was to just keep going. Sometimes with small business it is hard to book events or get the sales needed. The best things I have done have been to reach out to other small businesses and work together. It has helped me to learn about social media marketing, setting your price, and how to find your own niche within small business.
What do you do for encouragement or to be motivated?
I try to remind myself of the purpose behind my music business. I want to share my gift with others and hope that it makes them feel good. When I feel discouraged, that keeps me grounded in the present.
Do you have any mentors or coaches?
I have been coached by Melanie Sparks, Sparking Joy Health & Life Coaching. I took her class and it was so empowering! I also work with Coral Haynes, www.coralhaynes.com, who is a phenomenal therapist and I feel like she is my coach. Finally, my first social media marketing experience has been with Annice Pearce who is an entrepreneur of two hairbow businesses - www.beeboldbowtique.com and https://thebowplug.com. Annice has shown me tips for photography, graphics and I have watched her grow her businesses one relationship at a time. I am forever in her debt!
What is your mantra?
It works if you work it! -Health, work and every category, the strategies work if you choose to use them! How can I? - when problems arise, this one helps me to problem solve!
How can you be contacted (website, social media, etc)?
