Finally Fall!

There are so many reasons to fall in love with fall. Here are a few of my favorite things about this time of year!

  • The Weather – I have always been soothed by the windy, rainy, cloudy days. The not-too-hot and not-too-cold temperatures in fall make it the perfect weather for exploring and sitting around the fire.

  • The Colorful leaves – Red, orange, and yellow leaves all in a pile just waiting to be jumped in and thrown into the air!

  • Fires and Smores – My favorite fall evenings are spent with a group of friends and family, sitting around a fire, drinking hot chocolate (or wine) and making smores!

  • Comfort Food (Soups) – First hint of crispness in the air, and out comes the slow cooker for a big pot of Chili or Potato Soup… warms the soul!

  • Halloween – My favorite holiday! Spooky stories and creative costumes! From ghosts, goblins, and witches, to zombies and bloody, dead cheerleaders! I started dating my ex-husband on Halloween, and we even had a Halloween wedding!

  • Scarves, Sweaters, and Boots – I am a hot-blooded being, and I love it when the weather gets cool enough for me to wear my favorite articles of clothing... cardigans, sweaters, and boots! (PS I am making a few scarves for a fall give away! Stay tuned for details…)

  • Pumpkin Patch / Corn Maze – Family traditions of taking the kids to the local orchard / pumpkin patch for hayrides, petting zoo, corn maze, and more!

  • Pumpkin Carving – Picking out that perfect pumpkin to carve is only half of the fun. We gather in the backyard (with another fire and some more smores) and carve! Several years, we dumped our seeds in the patch next to the garage and grew a few of our own pumpkins for the next year!!)

  • Thanksgiving – Fall is the time of year that we have the most family traditions. Thanksgiving is when we prepare the traditional foods that are not made other times of year (turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, etc.,) and all come together to eat until our stomachs hurt! We usually find a fun way to talk about what we are thankful for as well.

  • Black Friday – SHOPPING! SALES! Need I say more?

These are but a few reasons that I fall in love with autumn year after year. Perhaps it’s the ease of tension between a carefree summer and a consumerist winter frenzy that make us go a little wild about this time of year. Whatever it is, it’s Finally Fall! Enjoy it while you can!
