Woman of the Week - Mackenzie Wilson

Mackenzie Wilson is a Veterinary student at Auburn University College of Vet Med that wants to go into small animal general practice and small exotics. ”I want to be a great doctor for my patients, and a good mentor for my employees/pre-vet students when I am practicing.”

Mackenzie feels she was very fortunate to work with amazing veterinarians at Bypass Animal Clinic. “I learned so much from each one of them and I have picked up on many traits I want to carry on with me not only through practice, but through my life as well.”

Her greatest accomplishments include getting into vet school. “I was originally waitlisted at both schools I applied to, so I was planning another semester of undergraduate studies at WKU. I was so shocked and grateful when Auburn called me.” she says. In addition, she recently got hired on to help with emergency surgeries at the teaching hospital at the vet school! “This is such a great opportunity, and I am so excited to learn outside of the classroom.”

The best advice that Mackenzie wants to pass on to our readers, “No amount of money can justify you being unhappy in your workplace.”

In her free time, Mackenzie loves to take her dogs to the dog park with her friends. ”Sometimes we walk the trail or let them off leash to run around. I also have quite a few reptiles so I love getting them out and spending time with them. Honestly, almost all of my free time goes to taking care of my babies (2 dogs, 1 cat, and 6 reptiles).”
