Julie Anne Curtis is a wife, mother, and Classical Conversations Essentials Tutor. Her cause in life is to know God and make Him known.
Julie feels many people have had a great influence on her life but the people who have had the most profound influence on her life are her parents. “I am extremely thankful to have parents that love Jesus. They taught me about the gospel and the importance of church membership and being part of the local church body. I was also blessed to be surrounded by three amazing sisters who always loved me and encouraged me and made growing up super sweet!”
Her greatest accomplishment to date is being a mom of three wonderful kids. “My husband and I struggled with infertility for almost two years, so there was a time when we thought we might not be able to have children. Every time I look at our kids I'm reminded of God's grace to me and how He answered my prayers to be a mom!”
The biggest obstacle Julie had to face has been postpartum depression. “ A few weeks after my first child was born, I started having symptoms of postpartum. I was embarrassed and didn't want to tell anyone that I was feeling these symptoms so I just tried to hide them. Eventually it became too much and I told my doctor and he prescribed some medicine that really helped me. I am so thankful for friends and family who encouraged me during this time to reach out for help. My mom told me that I couldn't take care of my children if I didn't first take care of myself. I also had several other friends who also struggled with postpartum and were a huge blessing to me during this time. There is nothing to be embarrassed about and it's important to ask for help!”
Julie’s long term goal is to keep homeschooling her three kids as long as possible! “We take it one year at a time, but I love it and as long as I feel like it is what the Lord is leading me to do I'd like to continue. I consider the end of each school year that we complete a huge milestone!”
Something most people do not know about Julie is that she loves to dance! “I've never taken a dance class, but I love to break it down on the dance floor! I'm also an identical twin, but most people probably know that.”
When asked about her best meal, Julie declared that narrowing down the best food she ever had would be hard! “I love food! Food is my love language! haha! I love holidays with family because there is always a lot of good food and I get to be with all of my favorite people.”
On vacation, Julie loves to go to SanDestin with her husband and kids. “ I love making memories with them that will last a lifetime. I also love the occasional getaway with just my husband. Last year we went to Boston for a weekend and that was wonderful.”
In her free time, Julie likes to go on dates with her husband. “My sweet in-laws watch our kids once a week so we can have a date night. We usually go out to dinner and enjoy some kid free time! Then I usually make him take me to Target! I also love to take naps! haha! mom life!”
Julie enjoys reading, watching reruns and music. She is currently reading the book of 1 John. “I just finished participating in a women's ministry training that equipped women on how to teach from the book of 1 John and I loved it soooo much! I love watching reruns of the Office with my husband and I love watching Hallmark Christmas movies. My favorite song to listen to is Won't He Do It by Koryn Hawthorne”
On the top of Julie’s bucket list, is going to visit her friend Rene in California. “We've been friends for twenty plus years and I haven't seen her in over five years. I was going to get to visit her this year, but then the Corona Virus came and that didn't happen.”
