Andee Rudloff, local artist and muralist, has had so many influencers, “I’m a hay bale of other’s influence... You take the good/you take the bad...but my mom’s influence is pretty obvious.” She feels her greatest accomplishment is making a living as an artist. Her outlook on life is centered around art, making art and engaging others in the process of making art.
Andee’s advice is never doubt your ability to serve and contribute. “#dostuff,” she adds. “I’ve been told I’m brave...if so, it is all of the highs and lows and my ability to surf those which make me appear brave...life is complicated, so I try not to beat myself up for the mistakes as they will be but a spot in history soon.”
Traveling, understanding, and respecting the existence of other cultures are tools that have helped Andee along the way. “And READ,” she recommends. “Read anything and everything. View art, ideas, and solutions, and try new things. Art is defined by viewership, scholars, and buyers; don’t lean into that, but rather lean away and grow what art can be.”
When asked about recent milestones achieved, Andee states, “In art, it requires a level of honesty… This makes each thing I do seem like a milestone and a triumph. I will be the featured artist for [the 2020] Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival (CN). CN is an event that is usually in-person which will be held virtually celebrating Nashville’s diversity.”
Moving forward, Andee feels lucky to have new projects right now. “I had to pivot, like everyone, but I’m finally hitting my stride in 2020. I will close the year out with mural projects, travel, organizing virtual and actual exhibitions as well as “outside the box” marketing and education efforts in KY and TN. I’m super excited about a potential street art study abroad effort in Germany with Western Kentucky University in the spring!”
In her spare time, Andee likes to run, paddleboard, and get out in nature. She watches documentaries, travel, and cooking shows. Her listening style includes lots of podcasts that excite her for their raw and REAL theories and conversations. She listens to several art podcasts but is honestly looking for new suggestions.
