The Games We Play

Dinner party? Game night? Regardless of what you call it, when my friends and I gather, we usually eat and game- Board games, card games, or watch football games.  Here are a few of our favorite games you might want to play at your next gathering:

The Game of Things – No right answers, no wrong answers… just pure fun!  The Award-Winning party game that presents players with hilarious topics like "THINGS... you wouldn't do for a million dollars" and lets each player write whatever comes to mind. When you try to figure out who said what... "You won't believe the THINGS... you'll hear!"

Mexican Train Dominoes – Click here https://www.mastersofgames.com/rules/mexican-train-dominoes-rules.htm for the most straightforward, elegant and least repetitive rules of play we could find.

Bitch Rummy – a twist on the original Rummy where there is a new wild card each round (start with Ace and end with King wild) and the goal is the go out by playing sets and runs as in traditional rummy,  leaving the other players with as many points in their hands as possible. The lowest scorer is the “bitch!”

Catan - In Catan, players try to develop their colony as fast as possible, by building roads, villages and towns. Each village and town produces resources (brick, lumber, wool, grain, ore) depending on the grounds that surround them and the dice good fortune.

BananaGrams – word game that requires no pencil, paper or board, and the tiles come in a fabric banana-shaped carrying pouch. Each player works independently to create their own 'crossword' faster than one's opponents. When a player uses up all their letters, all players take a new tile from the pool. The object of the game is to be the first to complete a word grid after the "bunch" of tiles has been depleted.

Balderdash - Players are given a word and they each write down what they think the definition is. The definition guesses are then read aloud and voted on. A player gets points if their definition is correct but you can also earn points if people vote for your proposed definition.

Honorable mentions include Phase10, Boggle, Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity and even Clue!
