Everyone says they will be happy when they… land that dream job, are financially stable, buy that house or car, and so on… but happiness is not circumstances or possessions. It is a state of mind. Happiness is a CHOICE, not a result. You can be happy where you are. You can be happy WHILE you are working for those goals.
The perfect time to be happy is right now. What is stopping you from being happy NOW?
Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.
Life does not always look the way I want it to; however, the world does not change much if I have more money, a better job, or a nicer car. Look at life as a gift. No matter what the wrapping paper looks like, the gift inside is what is important.
I was always looking toward tomorrow for happiness. And what happened? When tomorrow came, aka I reached that next goal, I did the same thing. Began looking toward tomorrow. But do not despair, enjoying the present moment is a habit that takes practice.
